Athan Buddy brings daily prayer information, configurable reminders, private logging, and Quran audio into a Windows desktop application.

Built around the daily prayer routine.

Prayer times and location

Use precise coordinates, IP-based detection, or a manually entered city. Choose the prayer calculation method and Asr school that apply.

Alerts and reminders

Select a full adhan, short sound, or silent notification. Configure missed-prayer reminders and repeatable 5, 10, or 15-minute snoozing.

Private prayer tracking

Log completed prayers and navigate through seven days of history. Logs and settings stay in the local application data file.

Quran and desktop operation

Search reciters and surahs, stream recitation, adjust Quran and adhan volumes, run from the system tray, start with Windows, and check GitHub manually for updates.

Build and release

A working Windows application, packaged for release.

Athan Buddy 0.1.0 is an Electron desktop application for Windows 10 and 11 on x64 systems, packaged with an NSIS installer.

Production builds, visual checks, and packaged application smoke tests have passed. The application is built with React, TypeScript, Vite, and Node.js.

Private history, explicit network boundaries.

Athan Buddy creates no accounts and does not upload prayer history. Location and streaming features contact specific external services when used.

Stored on the device

Prayer logs and settings are kept in an application data file under %APPDATA%.

AlAdhan: Receives coordinates or a manually entered city for prayer-time calculations.
BigDataCloud: Receives precise coordinates to determine the displayed city and country.
IPWhoIs: Handles IP-based location detection.
MP3Quran: Receives catalog, audio-streaming, and supported ayah-timing requests.

Internet access is required for refreshed prayer times, location services, full adhan playback, and Quran streaming.

Install from the official release.

Download the Windows x64 installer from GitHub Releases. The current installer is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show an unfamiliar-publisher warning.

Verify the published checksum or provenance attestation before running the installer.
